TACA (Central American Air Transportation) was founded in 1938 as a cargo company.The company developed a strategic alliance with the flag airlines of Guatemala (AVIATECA), Costa Rica (LACSA), and Nicaragua (NICA), and consolidated operations between 1989 and 1995 under the name of Grupo TACA.
